The story so far...
So... the story starts sometime during the summer of 2004, but we will leave that off of the blog ;)
Fast forward to February of 2005, Molly is pregnant and we are expecting a girl somewhere around April 12th. On the night of February 11th, Molly and I were supposed to be going to the ballet courtesy of some comps from her Mom and Dad. Molly, however, had been feeling pretty bloated for a couple days. After calling the doc and getting her blood pressure taken at a fire station the ballet was nixed and it was off to the hospital to get checked out.
As it turns out, Molly had come down with a case of pre-eclampsia. She was checked in to Ante-partum that night and didn't leave the hospital for a month. The staff at UWMC took very good care of Molly (and the little one still safely in her tummy) and we were able to put off her delivery until the 35th week of her pregnancy. I was at the hospital 1/2 the nights and at home with our cat Jack the other 1/2. It was a stressful month for all involved except, it seems, Molly. She was as cool as a cucumber and comfortable with the fact that she was in the best environment for the baby.
On Monday, March 7th we had an amniocentesis done which showed that the babies lungs were well developed and she was ready to come out. They put us on the list to induce that day. Unfortunately due to a very busy maternity ward, we did not actually start the process until late on Tuesday night. By Wednesday morning Molly was starting to dilate and contract, we were in labor! To make a long story only slightly shorter, the labor was fairly quick and relatively easy and by a little after Noon, Bess was born.
OK, it is late and I have to get up for work. More to come...
